Playing the Game - Words on Wednesday

So last weekend I hopped in a car and hightailed it out of the country - all the way to sunny Wales.  I say this with absolutely no irony.  I spent an amazing long weekend enjoying stunning sunshine in a gorgeous little cottage in the middle of nowhere.

And finally, with no distractions, with nothing to stress about and no appointments, I finally got to Read A Book.

Yes, after struggling for a month to read a whole book, it only took me two days to (almost) complete my latest book.  Normally I don't tell you about books til I've actually finished them, but as I'm only 20-odd pages off the end I figured you wouldn't mind.

Playing the Game is by Belle De Jour - as in the blogging call girl - but this time she's written a novel.  With "Belle" as the central character.

This tells the story of how Belle's life might have played out once she quit the sex industry - or is it how her life did play out?  The minx is mixing things up and blurring the lines between fact and fiction.  And... I feel unfair critiquing this like it's some great novel, when it's more of a light summer read.

Seems like the author just couldn't let that part of her life go when she hung up her lingerie and whip, and that makes for a great trashy novel.  And I love my trashy novels - they're fluffy, fun and entertaining - and this one is a little bit smarter, sharper and a whole lot sexier than the rest.

Do you have a favourite trashy novel?  Or a summer read that's something of a guilty pleasure perhaps?

Ahh I usually hate the chick-lit but sometimes I can't help myself but to indulge in one - but ONLY if it's funny. My faves are Bergdorf Blondes and the Debutante Divorcee, have you gotten to those?

I haven't, but I might have to give them a try, be rude not to seeing as you so kindly recommended them...
